The feast is associated with an event recounted not in the New Testament , but in the apocryphal Protoevangelium of James. According to that text, Mary 's parents, Joachim and Anne , who had been childless, received a heavenly message that they would have a child. In thanksgiving for the gift of their daughter, they brought her, when still a child, to the Temple in Jerusalem to consecrate her to God. Later versions of the story such as the Gospel of Pseudo-Matthew and the Gospel of the Nativity of Mary indicate that Mary was taken to the Temple at around the age of three in fulfillment of a vow. Tradition held that she was to remain there to be educated in preparation for her role as Mother of God.

The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life is a sociological book by Erving Goffman , in which the author uses the imagery of theatre in order to portray the importance of human social interaction ; this approach would become known as Goffman's dramaturgical analysis. The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life was the first book to treat face-to-face interaction as a subject of sociological study. Goffman treats it as a kind of report in which he frames out the theatrical performance that applies to these interactions. At the same time, the person the individual is interacting with is trying to form and obtain information about the individual. Believing that all participants in social interactions are engaged in practices to avoid being embarrassed or embarrassing others, Goffman developed his dramaturgical analysis , wherein he observes a connection between the kinds of acts that people put on in their daily life and theatrical performances. In social interaction , as in theatrical performance, there is a front region where the performers individuals are on stage in front of the audiences.
Always alter your presentation openings, depending on your audience. Remember that what might work for you in a boardroom would likely turn a room of millennials into a bored room. Bring an object along to your presentation that you think could be useful in your presentation, and start with explaining what it is, and why it is significant. Either way, having an object in your opening is an unusual way of starting a presentation, and can get you some important points when presenting.
